It's been over 35 years now living in the Mammoth Lakes area, how time flies. I have been involved in Real Estate for about 38 years (1973). Starting out in Lake Tahoe as a property manager, hotel manager and Ski Patrolman. I really do love living and working in the mountains. All through the 60's I skied Mammoth while I was in school in Southern Calif.
During high school and college at Cal Poly, I Ski Patroled the local Southern Calif. mountains, mainly Mt. Baldy. I guess this is where I began to like the mountains so much. Prior to my departure for Tahoe, the government asked me to join them for a couple of years in the Army (1967-1969), of course, I did go along with their plans for me. After graduating from Cal Poly, in 1972, I found myself in Tahoe, which is a great place to live, however I was always thinking about Mammoth. So, one day I came down from Tahoe and tried out for the Mammoth Mt. Ski Patrol, the rest was history, I moved to Mammoth.
What a life to live, ski all winter and do real estate during the summer. Over the years, we built and sold many of our own projects, from custom homes, apartments, to a 130 unit Mini-Storage project. After a few great years working on the mountain, I thought I needed to concentrate all of my time on real estate oriented activities, sales, building and property management. I feel over the past 3 decades of being a Realtor and Broker I have proven to be a very dedicated and knowledgeable Eastern Sierra Real Estate Broker.
In 1982, I met and married Carol, an original local, she was born here. We have two beautiful girls who grew up on skis and were very successful ski racers. At this time, Lauren is away at college, Cal Poly. Lindsay, is now a Nurse in the ICU at Foothill Hospital. As I mentioned above, we have had a great time living in Mammoth Lakes for over 35 years and plan to continue on. Like my family, you may end up in the Sierra, thinking it is temporary, but stay forever.
The main thing I do as a Real Estate Broker here in Mammoth, is to offer my clients and friends a "Life Style". As you probably realize, most of our owners come from Southern California. They have a very busy life in the "big city". Mammoth and the Eastern Sierra provide a great escape. In the past, many of our visitors came up for the weekend, now we see longer and longer stays. Some of our owners, prefer the condominium style of living and want to rent the property out when they are not using it. Others like the 2nd. home, to be a single family house. This type of property owner may have our "Absentee Owners Assistance" program look after the property.
