MAMMOTH
2012/2013 SEASON
It's been a great winter now into spring, some say this is the best season for MAMMOTH. we have about 10 to 15 feet on the mountain. Everything is open. It seems that everyweek something is going on. lots of people in town enjoying the cool weather. About once a week we get a little storm to keep things fresh on the mountain. We have many activities going on in the Village this weekend, lots of fun and music for everyone. Our weather is in the change mode at this time, it will dry out for this next week or so. Remember 2 years ago, we had about 60 feet of snow, in the 38 years of living in Mammoth, I have seen many big storms, however that year topped them all. This past year we were down from the normal, However we have had great skiing over the year, now with our 15 feet of pack, things are looking good for a great spring.
When the skiing stops, or if you need a break from the snow, head for the Golf course, Bishop C.C. is open and in the best shape I have ever seen. The temp's are in the 60's with no wind, great for golf. You may want to think about becoming a member, it's only 45 min. down the road and open all year. Family membership is the best deal in golf. $110 per month unlimited play.

The new "HIGH FIVE" chair opened this past year, it is nice to retire the old chair 5. The new location is down hill from the old bottom location, great for the skiers coming from chair 3. The new Village Ski Back Trail was open this past winter, work is complete on the bridge over Forest Trail to the Village. So you can now take this from chair 7 and 4 to the village. hop on the Gondola back to Canyon Lodge.
As you may know from the news, the town of Mammoth was thinking about Bankruptcy, this is because of the judgement over the airport expansion and development. I have a complete Q and A on this situation, if you would like a copy, please feel free to contact me. All looks good at this time, a deal has been completed so the town will continue on but much leaner.
As a private pilot, I can say that the conditions at the airport and the FBO are great. Talking about Flying out of Mammoth, there are many great half day trips such as Death Valley, Tahoe, The Gold Country that are lots of fun, just give me a call and we can talk about it, I love flying and enjoy talking about it. If you need help with learning how to fly in the mountains, there are a couple of good instructors that can help you.
We have some very good news about the Village. The summer and winter events have been great, everyone enjoyed the bands and entertainment throughout the summer. The shops and restaurants had a very good year. Mammoth local Gomez's Mexican Restaurant has moved in, also, the Mountain has taken over many of the prime spaces overlooking the plaza. It looks like there will be many more local shops coming back and a few larger retailers as well. Things look good for this important center of Mammoth.
REAL ESTATE MAMMOTH LAKES: It's been busy over the last few months, the properties that are priced correctly have been selling, many multiple offers with the REO's/Bank Owned . Some buyers are losing out, it is very important to move fast with some of the foreclosed properties. We have very few on the market here in Mammoth and few Short Sales.

MAMMOTH REAL ESTATE: We,ve had a very good summer and winter selling season, all of our fellow Realtors are reporting that sales are steady, lots of people are shopping and many offers. Some of the REO's that are priced right are getting multiple offers and selling over the list price that the bank assigned to them. We feel that there are some very good buys at this time. In regard to our regular property listings, they need to compete with the REO's/Foreclosures. This is making for some very good buys. I do think we will have more, but not many.
